Riddle me this....

Riddle me this... What's round, exhilirating, addicting, and virtually ingenious? A: Batman Arkham Assylum for PS3!! Great great game. Major kudos to the creation team on this one. Well delivered from the game concepts, innovative events and story, to the overall flair. One of my favorites of the game include the awesome character voices. The original Harley Quinn and Joker from the Animated Series = WIN! This is the first time in a long time i'm actually hooked to a console game and I don't have to force myself to want to play it. Can this be my cure to pull me away from wow? lets hope so.

Yo Joe!

Quick Review for you all! Not much to say except GI Joe was the best action flick of the summer. Yes, better then Transformers... Go see it. Sure, it may be cheesy, but in my eyes it was a great rendition of the old school cartoon. Casting was questionable at first, but overall.... it works...

The Rock Says...

So many of you may or may not know that I have been a long time fan of the not-so-sport-like Wrestling Entertainment. One of my favorites wrestlers of all time hands down is the Rock. I saw an interesting article posted by IGN on the rocks best catch phrases that I wanted to share: Enjoy!

http://tv.ign.com/articles/100/1000668p1.html

Here's a couple of my favorite lines from the article:
Talking about Kane: "On top of all that, look at this guy. I mean he's an idiot. He's 7 feet of pure idiot. You put his brain in a parakeet... zing! It'll fly backwards."

"Now, Badass, you run your mouth about Summerslam. Well, here's the situation. The Rock says this, if the Rock hits you he'll kill you. If he misses, the wind behind the punch will give you pneumonia and you'll die anyway. So the choice is yours, jabroni!'"

Talking about Eddie G.: "With a haircut like that and a face like that, it looks like Billy Ray Cyrus went and had sex with a retarded hyena!"

"And Lilian wasn't always a RAW Diva. Lilian used to have a job. She used to work at the sperm bank. She got fired for drinking on the job."

Hello from 35,000 feet in the sky

Blogging at 35,000 feet in the sky?? You got that right! Im on a Virgin America flight from JFK to Las Vegas and the plane has WiFi !!! How awesome is that! (im gonna do some emailing, facebooking, and even try to play some WoW =P) Not only that its equipped with an outlet plug to charge my laptop with a full onboard entertainment center. So I dont think I'll be sleeping much on this flight. The cabin itself is lit with neon lights that seem to change color to give it a nightclub like atmosphere.  Another cool feature is the food ordering system.  If you wanted to buy a sandwhich, you would do so through your touch screen monitor in front of you swipe your credit card on the monitor and place the order.  Then in the back an attendant will receive the order and deliver your food. Very cool plane.

Well bring on Vegas!!

The new age of gaming: Motion Sensors... but who wins Xbox360 or PS3?

So E3 the video game conference that all nerds dream about someday going to, and look forward to reading about just ended this year. I being one of those video game nerds just got a tip from Justin to check out the new things the game companies have in store for us "gaming gurus." One major thing that caught my eye was Sony's big announcement on a motion sensor controller similar to Nintendo's Wii system. Later I found Xbox had a similar invention in mind but instead intend to use no controller and just read your body movement. In addition, the Xbox version will scan actual objects, provide video chat, and a lot of new features. The real question will be how accurate and well do these things perform? Sure it looks great in these clips but we all know that in real life they won't turn out as great... I guess time will tell.

But from what you see here, which one looks cooler to you? Xbox 360 or PS3 version of Motion Gaming.

Testing out the Panasonic Lumix ZS3

So I got myself a new point and shoot camera a week ago, and after extensive research I decided on a Panasonic Lumix ZS3. I originally wanted to get a Flip HD Mino for digital video goodness, but after reading many many many reviews I figured that I should just upgrade my point and shoot digital camera at the same time for a few more bucks with even better video quality at the same time.

So, I bought the camera through special order since it just came out and has a high demand their sold out everywhere. This weekend I got a chance to test out the camera and am somewhat confused on whether I should keep it or exchange it for a Canon SD780. Reason being, the Canon is about 3/4 the size, 1/2 the weight and Canon pictures are supposed be a lot more vivid and also has more features on the camera itself. BUT, what I lose according to the many results I read is quality in video, and the Panasonic has a much better lens on the camera which includes wide angle and an unheard of 12x zoom.

With all that said, i'm kind of borderline on both... do I want to sacrifice quality for size and coolness? I got a chance to sample the camera/vid while driving and at NYC's annual Japan Fair. Take a look and let me know what you think.

A moonchie thought...

I have fully categorized all my posts into a set group of categories which can be found on the bottom of the right column --->
You'll find some convenient categories such as "Music" "Photography" "Games" etc. This should make things easier to navigate and read. One of those categories is "A Moonchie Thought" which is the meat and potatoes of my blog, the personal stuff. Anytime you see something categorized under "A Moonchie Thought" you know it's coming from the psychological mindframe of moonchie. Some things may be completely off the wall, some may be philosophical, but all in all you know its straight from the madness of moonchie.

So... as a reminder, tell your friends to visit! COMMENT, become a follower (click on the right --->) and remember suggestions and comments are highly welcomed! in fact suggested!

/flex

I have conquered the random number generators! So recently in the digital world of World of Warcraft I have gotten lucky and received too cool new rare mounts. Both work off of a random system that have like a 1% chance to acquire. The Green Proto Drake has like a 3% chance that you can only try for once per week. I've been trying for about 3-4 months now and finally got one. The other has a 1% chance to acquire but only has a 1 day timer on it. Pretty good to finally get them and not have to worry, hooray for feeling happy about digital pixels!

So I finally got to take some test shots with the new DSLR at Hofstra. I'm pretty impressed!! As Yoda said, "I have much to learn." But am looking forward to learning all I can! These shots are all unedited and are pretty much raw since I don't have photoshop on this comp yet. Let me know what you think!

Utada - This is the one and BOA-BOA Album Reviews

Today Utada Hikaru's English album debut is released in stores. Well not really her first attempt, but mainstream attempt to the American market. Therefore, I thought it would be a perfect time to do a review, especially if you were even considering on purchasing the album. In related news, BOA Korean superstar who has ventured and captured the Japanese market also released her English Album in the American market. So sit back, read the reviews and hopefully it will help you decide if the albums are worth the purchase.

Utada- This is the One

The album surprised me. After hearing Utada's first attempt at an American release, I honestly was expecting the second release to flop, utterly flop... But I was wrong. To me, this was a success. As a die hard Utada Hikaru fan from her Japanese Release of the hit single "Automatic," I have been an avid follower/fan from the jump. Therefore, to avoid any biasness in this review, I decided to ask a few friends to give me their feedback, being that they have never heard of Utada in their life.

First lets talk about the positives. After reading a bit about the production of the album I found that Utada has branched out to some top producers Stargate and Tricky who have produced tracks for Mariah, Britney, and Madonna. To me this shows throughout the album, as the production and lyrics are a lot better. Some fans critique this as a bad thing as it shows that Utada has "sold out" from no longer strictly writing and producing her own songs. However, I don't see this as a bad thing at all. A lot of her songs are still written and produced only by Utada but she is dealing with a whole new market and let alone a new language. What she is used to with the Japanese market and Japanese songwriting won't necessarily work with the mainstream American market. Utada still made most of this album, but just got some help from the pros that knows the mainstream market more. Nothing wrong with that.
My favorite tracks include "Apple and Cinnamon" and "Come back to me" Both are very catchy, and needed for airplay in the states.

Now a few negatives. I really hate the cover of the album. I saw a few other shots that they took for the album and would take those over the one they chose. When you are going for a mainstream release, you need to catch the consumers eye, and this cover definately does not do that. Epic fail on whoever chose this cover. Second, I think the marketing is horrible on Utada's team. "Come Back to Me" is catchy and definately radio worthy on pop stations, yet you don't hear it on a heavy rotation. I guess its our jobs as fans to request it in. Utada's marketing team should have got her name out there a lot more, and push to have her on as many radio shows, tv interviews, collaborations with other artists, etc. As they say, "go big or go home."

One other small gripe I had was the genre of music. I know Utada is a pop/R&B artist, more heavy on the pop side. But it would be good to see her release some tracks that are more R&B heavy. Like a solid R&B ballad opposed to a pop-like one. Half her Japanese debut album was heavy R&B tracks, would be good to hear a similar style in her English songs as well. A lot of the songs are also missing the "bump" that other pop songs, maybe the producers behind the boards should pump up the bass and treble in their production.

Lastly, I would really have loved to see more collaborations on the album. There were a few tracks that could have used a nice rap verse or collabo. Being that the album was released on Island DefJam records, im sure they could have signed someone to be on some of the tracks that could put Utada in a good light and give her more of that mainstream push. Maybe like a Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Keyshia Cole, or even another Japanese artist collabo that's trying to get out there in the American market like Verbal from M-flo. Imagine how great an Utada track would sound with a Rihanna collaboration! Why not? They're both DefJam artists.

Overall, great start to a possible American release attempt. I recommend buying the album and supporting the artist. Hopefully, we will see more of Utada in America in the future.

BOA- BOA

Another album that I was surprised with. I was expecting the very worst from this album, but the production definately keeps it together. There are some solid dance tracks on the record including its hit Single "I Did it for Love." One thing that I feared prior to giving the album a chance was that I believed BOA's "fobby" accent will drown out the lyrics of the songs and that will bother me the most and distract me from actually appreciating the piece. This was not the case however. It turns out that with the right production, and autotune, they were able to 'mask' that "fobby" accent to sound pretty legitimate. The tracks sound similar to a Lady Gaga track with solid beats and good production. Just like Utada's marketing sucked so did this one. I didn't even know the album came out, and its been out since March 17th! However, I feel its definately worth a listen. Not quite immediate purchase material, but you may like, you might not. Overall, I liked it.

Rising Stars

Listed Below are three stars that are up and coming, and hopefully if my judgement serves me right will become big stars in the near future. You may have heard of them, but if you have'nt yet I suggest you check out their newest stuff, so you can tell your friends that Jason told you all about them before they became big!

1. Mike Posner (R&B, Hip Hop)
Album/Mixtape: Mike Posner and the Brain Trust

If you haven't heard Mike Posner's newest mixtape, I suggest you get it now. Hell, its free on iTunes for download!! He has a unique voice that is smooth as butter, but a trackset and lyrics that pierce your heart and eardrums like a silver arrow. I haven't heard new talent like this come out with such a solid debut mixtape in awhile. This kids only 21! He makes his own beats and has so much talent. I'm not sure if he is signed w/ Kanye's label yet but i'm sure he will be soon since his friend Big Sean has just been signed.

2. Big Sean (Rap/Hip Hop)
Album/Mixtape: Finally Famous , Unknown

Newest member to be signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label. This guy got skills. Lyrically ill, flow is straight, and lots of potential. Similar style to Kid Cudi, who is also a rather new artist that has made his shine, but I think this kid got more potential honestly.

3. The Ting Tings
Album: We started Nothing

Ok so the Ting Tings may not be new to many of you, but im sure to a few they are. They had their U.S. debut a few months back with We Started Nothing, and slowly singles have been coming from the album. Coming from a big fan base in the UK and Europe, the Ting Tings are one of those bands with a unique flavor that any music fan will fall in love with. They kinda have that White Stripes feel, with a cheerleader type rhythm. Check it out for yourself!

God is Good

God is good, not just to me but to all of us. Interesting story for you. Last night, I was at a stoplight waiting. Then all of a sudden , boom, I get rear-ended by some kid in a hoopti. I pull over and notice that he isn't joining me. I get out of my car and yell at him to pull over, while mentally remebering his license plate number in case he tries to pull a fast one on me. He pulls over and gets out of his car apologizing. I ask him what he was thinking, as I was at the light for awhile and he obviously carelessly just hit me. He claims all fault and says that he dropped something in the car and reached down to get it and didn't brake in time.
I then go to see the damage on my car, cringing at the whole situation. But surprisingly... there was very very minimal damage. At the most small indentations from the screws of his license plate, and a few scratches. I was shocked... I already had a few scratches prior to the incident so it wasn't that much of a difference. I look up to the kid who looks like he's about to cry. He continuously apologizes to me saying that his insurance premiums are up to the roof, doesn't have much money and is very sorry. I decide to lecture him for a bit, and tell him its his lucky day. I let him go. Told him to drive more carefully being that he is in no condition to drive recklessly. Also told him that although it would probably cost me $300 to take those small scratches out, I'm going to let him go. God is good... and hopefully he is counting his blessings while he learns a lesson.

New Toys!!

So Christmas in April came a few weeks ago (IE: Tax Return season). I got a pretty generous return this year so I decided to treat myself to some new toys... Got me a sexy Nikon D40 DSLR camera with 2 lenses; a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm VR lens. I can't wait to use it!!

Another pretty little thing I got was this 8" dell Mini 9 that was transformed into a "mini mac." (Running off a Mac OSX operating system). Big Props to Justin for making this little beauty for me. I'll be replacing this as my on-the-go system when I'm on the road for everyday uses, and give my mom my old laptop (unit on the right). You can tell how small the mini9 is from the first and last picture, I love it!

Samurai vs Gun

Two blog posts in one day, lucky you!

Michael Turner, always remembered

I was browsing around google to see what a few of my favorite comic book artists were up to, and found some shocking and sad news. Michael Turner, co-creator of the hit comic characters "Witchblade" , "Darkness", and "Fathom" passed away last year in June due to complications in bone cancer. This guy had so much talent that its sad to hear that he's gone.
