2010 wrap up and awards

This year was rough for me and i'm really glad that its over. But through all the bad there were still many goods and I have indeed learned from the bad. With all that said I've come up with the 2010 awards as I did in the past, so without further adieu...

Best Movie of 2010
Inception
Is this a surprise? I'm sure nearly everyone had this one in mind. Everything that Christopher Nolan touches is gold and I look forward to more masterpieces in the future.

Best Album of 2010

Kanye West- Twisted Dark Fantasy
C'mon this is hands down an easy choice. Kanye came back in 2010 with a blazing fury. Sure Eminem had a dope album, so did Bruno Mars and Ceelo Greene, Linkin Park also played on loop on my deck for a bit, but Kanye takes this one. Not only is it G.O.O.D. music but in a sense its art in music. That's something thats rare these days.

Video Game of the Year
Starcraft II
This was a tough one. 2010 was definitely a great year for games. Surely I could have picked the usual picks; COD Black ops or WoW Cataclysm, but Starcraft II is my choice. It brought me back to appreciating RTS and has taken me away from the MMO treadmill... well sorta... hopefully it will permanently.

Best Artist of 2010

Kanye West
I hate to sound like i'm all up on his .... but really he had a great year. Lets look outside of what he has done from just the great 13 tracks on his album. Besides if I were to select "Best song of 2010" it would have to be "Runaway" as #1 with Linkin Park's "catalyst" as #2. Pre-release of his album for about 2 months straight, Kanye released FREE downloads to his fans on twitter. A lot of these songs were tracks not on the album but still very well could have been as they were solid tracks. I'm talking tracks with big-name cameos such as Jay-Z, Le Roux, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, etc. and all for FREE for his fans! Next... lets take a look at not only his creative artsy videos, but his performances as well. His MTV VMA, SNL, etc etc performances were so well put together and extremely well coordinated. You can tell he didn't just walk up 5 min on stage before the cameras started rolling and just sang. Taylor Swift tried to hit the public with another attack on Kanye at the VMAs but when the world saw West's performance I think they realized that it was check-mate....

Best Breakthrough Artist

Katy Perry
Ok ok so she might have debuted in 2009, but to me she really broke through in 2010. I didn't really like her much when she came out but through the horrible pop music of the likes of Ke$ha K.P. really shines. Hell she even won Maxim's hottest female of the year award, which has nothing to do with my choice, or does it o_O . no really... it doesnt.... Anyhow, what many don't know is that Katy can actually sing really well outside of her pop music genre, check it out:

Biggest Disappointment of the Year
Cliff Lee
No not Lebron James, although realistically it really should be... not Brock Lesnar losing his title, not BJ Penn losing to Frankie twice..... its Cliff freakin Lee signing with the Phillies... he pulled a "Lebron" and took his talents to Philadelphia after the nation thought he was committed to joining his friend CC Sabathia with the Yankees.... now the future doesn't look good for my Yankees next year but we'll see...

and that wraps it up! Kind of short this year but I'm looking forward to what 2011 will bring. Have a safe and Happy New Years everyone!

weird dream scenario

I just woke up from a nap... and it was starting to turnout to be a nightmare but not really... its weird. I dreamt that I was in a town (las vegas looking but it wasn't what the real Las Vegas). This town was a place that I've been to in dream-land before and I recognized that place in my dreams before. I found it really eerie that I recollected a dream from the past within the dream itself. The kicker is everytime i'm in this "town that looks like Vegas" I have to escape for my life from zombies and i'm the only one alive. It's really weird. I know its my creative side running amuck and that I should really stop playing Dead Rising, Resident Evil, and other zombie like movies but I found it really weird that I have created this little place that I seem to go back to once in awhile. Some psychological inception crap going on right there..

Update on my identity theft crisis

Wow look at that, two consecutive blogs in two days! I just wanted to share my fiascos of my court case that ive been battling.

So it started in late August, when I got a notice of suspension for my drivers license in the mail that was sent by the DMV. After calling about this notice,it turns out that someone received three ticket s under my name and address in June. Baffled, I thought hard on how this whole mixup happened especially since I know I haven't gotten pulled over nor received any tickets in June. Then it hit me, i lost my drivers license a year ago and some scumbag must be using it! I was told to show up in district court that following Monday to "speak to the judge.". Low and behold when I appeared to court the new York judge did not give me an opportunity to speak and instead said to show up for an adjourned date with a lawyer.

That's when I met my new lawyer, and he would be classified as an "ambulance lawyer" one that hangs around courtrooms and helps out with clerical work in turn to get clients. Long story short this attorney wasn't the greatest, in fact he borderline sucked. But...when jumped on he would attempt to do something. I did most of the leg work and paid most of the fees to retrieve info from the DMV. My case was then adjourned again due to the judge stating that it's best for the cop to identify me.

Fastforward to today. Just got a Tex t from my lawyer saying that we will show up to court tomorrow and they will dismiss my charges. He also said that probably since the DA didn't do his job to ask the officer in advance as requested he feels bad since he somewhat believes my story. Now I think if I had a good lawyer he would have taken care of this before any adjournment and I wouldn't have to pay him for additional appearances. Lessons I have learned was NEVER lose my drivers license and also take more time in picking a good lawyer. This whole case really made me think differently about new yorks justice system. I mean I really felt like it was"guilty until proven innocent" and not the other way around as it should be.

Oh well, lesson learned and I'm hoping that my charges indeed get dropped for a crime I did not commit and I don't have to worry

First iPad blog

Hello world from my brand new iPad! My MacBook is up on bay for sale and has one day left. The current price already covers the cost of this iPad and even leaves me with some extra money for accessories and apps! I'm pretty stoked and pleased with the iPad, and since I got the 3G model, I'll be able to blog more often!

Hello Blog World!? Have I been missed? I missed you!

So I've been really busy and I mean it this time recently and once again put blogging on hold. BUT... I got a lot to share so stay tuned!

Here's a recap in a flash of what's been going on:
-been a victim of identity fraud - had to pay for an attorney that I didn't commit - going to court to fight my defense next week - fell for a girl that's probably a lesbian - went to my first UFC live PPV event - only to see my favorite fighter lose - but to also meet his family - which kind of strengthened my belief in him as a fan - been tweaking out on Starcraft 2 - picked up a large rejuvenated interest in comics and artists again - hence picked up a large interest to want to draw again - applied for a job in seattle - friend got the job - good friend leaves me in NY - applied for his job - never heard about it yet, but being optomistic - computer overheated and nearly blew up - spent loads of money to rebuild/upgrade my super computer - running 4.0ghz overclocked on an i7 930 woot - now graphics card is about to blow up - no money to buy a new one - bills bills bills - will recover - will post more - will be a better person! STAY TUNED

Hello from 35,000 feet in the sky

Blogging at 35,000 feet in the sky?? You got that right! Im on a Virgin America flight from JFK to Las Vegas and the plane has WiFi !!! How awesome is that! (im gonna do some emailing, facebooking, and even try to play some WoW =P) Not only that its equipped with an outlet plug to charge my laptop with a full onboard entertainment center. So I dont think I'll be sleeping much on this flight. The cabin itself is lit with neon lights that seem to change color to give it a nightclub like atmosphere.  Another cool feature is the food ordering system.  If you wanted to buy a sandwhich, you would do so through your touch screen monitor in front of you swipe your credit card on the monitor and place the order.  Then in the back an attendant will receive the order and deliver your food. Very cool plane.

Well bring on Vegas!!

A moonchie thought...

I have fully categorized all my posts into a set group of categories which can be found on the bottom of the right column --->
You'll find some convenient categories such as "Music" "Photography" "Games" etc. This should make things easier to navigate and read. One of those categories is "A Moonchie Thought" which is the meat and potatoes of my blog, the personal stuff. Anytime you see something categorized under "A Moonchie Thought" you know it's coming from the psychological mindframe of moonchie. Some things may be completely off the wall, some may be philosophical, but all in all you know its straight from the madness of moonchie.

So... as a reminder, tell your friends to visit! COMMENT, become a follower (click on the right --->) and remember suggestions and comments are highly welcomed! in fact suggested!

God is Good

God is good, not just to me but to all of us. Interesting story for you. Last night, I was at a stoplight waiting. Then all of a sudden , boom, I get rear-ended by some kid in a hoopti. I pull over and notice that he isn't joining me. I get out of my car and yell at him to pull over, while mentally remebering his license plate number in case he tries to pull a fast one on me. He pulls over and gets out of his car apologizing. I ask him what he was thinking, as I was at the light for awhile and he obviously carelessly just hit me. He claims all fault and says that he dropped something in the car and reached down to get it and didn't brake in time.
I then go to see the damage on my car, cringing at the whole situation. But surprisingly... there was very very minimal damage. At the most small indentations from the screws of his license plate, and a few scratches. I was shocked... I already had a few scratches prior to the incident so it wasn't that much of a difference. I look up to the kid who looks like he's about to cry. He continuously apologizes to me saying that his insurance premiums are up to the roof, doesn't have much money and is very sorry. I decide to lecture him for a bit, and tell him its his lucky day. I let him go. Told him to drive more carefully being that he is in no condition to drive recklessly. Also told him that although it would probably cost me $300 to take those small scratches out, I'm going to let him go. God is good... and hopefully he is counting his blessings while he learns a lesson.

Jet Setter

So I've been traveling a lot for work recently. So much that Nicole called me a "Jet Setter." Don't get me wrong, I feel very priveleged that I have the opportunity to travel all around the nation due to my job, but it does get tiring. In a one month span I would have been through 9 airport security checks, took about 6 taxicabs in different states, and checked into 4 different Marriot Hotels. Being that I travel a lot it does have its consequences, my immune system is weaker causing me to get a slight cold that I'm currently trying to shake, and it also means that I'm falling behind on my school work. BUT... what keeps me moving forward is the motivation to finish school ASAP, get this degree and move to the west. Real talk right there.

On the positive side, I've been cutting back on WoW a lot and enjoying the other things I used to enjoy before WoW, such as Japanese Dramas. Thanks to Annie, she got me hooked on them again! I also am getting the chance to meet with all my friends scattered around the US through my travelings. It's so good to see the many of you that I have recently seen, and for the others I'll try my best to have my job send me there next =)

Update

Enough of the Celebrity gossip, and media videos. Time to fill you in on what's been going in with me. Well other then fighting the cold weather, I am back in school while working so hard my eyes burn every night. I've already been given a few travel assignments for the month including Philadelphia this Saturday, Vegas on the week of the 16th, and D.C. at the end of the month. Vegas should be fun because I took the rest of that week off to drive to L.A. to hang out with Justin and then we're gonna drive to San Fran for a few days to visit friends. So you know that's going to be a good few blog posts =).

In regards to my classes this semester, I'd say to describe them, well they're interesting. I'm taking 3 courses on top of work (don't ask me how I do it). One course is all about activism and the fight for revolution in education. The professor definately looks like a previous activist, with the whole member from the hip hop group the Roots look. I was thinking of dropping that course but a friend of mine told me that it's not as bad as it seems so I guess I'll stick with it. My second course is a continuation of last semesters Higher Education course so I know that will be good. But my last course.... when I say interesting boy do I mean it. First off, the title is called "Toys and Games." Just like the title says, all we do is talk about toys and games and its influence on education. It's great for me! Right??! I hope so... So far what we did in class was introduce ourselves through the voice of a random puppet that we were given. So of course being the only guy in the class, I was given a wooden monkey puppet to introduce Jason. We'll see how it goes, my assignment is to do a presentation on the History of Marbles!

Flashing Christmas Lights

= Before you read on, I apologize for bringing down anyone's emotions during the holiday season. If you are affected by words and emotions easily please don't read further. It's just an expression of what I am honestly thinking right now =
You know that feeling of expectation on how you should feel during a certain holiday season? Well throw it away, expect the unexpected. I was feeling kind of glum on Christmas and instead of feeling all scroogy, I decided to go take a walk with my Camera to take some pics of the Honolulu Christmas lights in downtown. Let alone I started to realize how HORRIBLE my little sony cam is but it tried it's best.

And here's a song to show my feelings:

"Shoots" not "Chutes"!

It's Shoots not Chutes as in the board game chutes and ladders! Shoots is the term used in Hawaii for "Ok" or "gotcha". IE: Shoots i'll see ya there!

Anyways thats my little hawaii-lingo of the day and as you can see I have made it back to my home town this Christmas break. Went out and had a wonderful homecoming welcoming as usual. The guys took me out for some drinks, and pupus (appetizers). Big ups to the guys who came out last night.

Now the good stuff... Just for my blog fans I'll hit you up with something that happened on my flight home. So the flight from NY was delayed due to the snow and the plane having to be de-iced. Nonetheless, I was sitting next to this girl who I didn't get much of a glimpse because apparently sleep was more important than anything in the world at the moment. So throughout our 8 hour venture in the plane, I got a few glimpses of her face and by the way she dressed I was under the impression that this girl was actually a MILF. But, boy was I wrong. As the plane was landing, she started talking to the woman to the left of her about that ladies connecting flight and how they both would be late. She then mentions that she's going to Maui and hopes she gets on because her little dog (who was in a little carry-on under the seat in front of her) only had permits to travel for today only. Now through the mentioning of "Maui" that caused my ears to perk up a bit and do a little eves dropping. As the conversation got deeper, I noticed that this so called MILF actually talked like she was much younger then I sought her out to be, hell she even sounded younger then me, especially since she kept mentioning her parents and what she wants to do in life.

So I couldn't take it anymore and turned my head and got a full look to see what she looks like. Results? Not bad, and definately not a MILF but an attractive young lady probably younger then me thats just dressed in older ladies clothes and jewelery. Me being the shy person let them carry on their conversation, but I did get a chance to slip in my appearance. I asked her if she's flying to Maui, and told her that I'm flying to Oahu. With those few words we opened up a short conversation while the plane just touched down to the landing strip. Turns out that she's Japanese and living in NY just like me! She's a admirer of languages (as am I) and the similarities actually had the conversation go so smoothly. After about a minute of conversation, the fasten seat belt signs flashed off indicating time for us to deplane. I let her know about my flight leaving within an hour and that if possible she should try to catch the same flight as me and then find a connecting flight in Oahu instead of straight from LAX. She seemed to like the idea and said she'll give it a shot if she can't find something better. We both left the plane, while I wished her good luck, and she said her byes with "hopefully we'll be on the same connecting flight next." Anticipating her company on the next flight I decided to get some pizza for lunch. As I was in line I saw her running to another gate, which indicated that she found a better connecting flight. And.. that was the end of that!

So with this story, it makes me wonder.... Do you ever get the feeling that some people are put in your life for you to meet, and its up to you to make the best of that opportunity. Sure, I should have got her number, sure I shouldn't prioritize sleep over everything! , but OH well no sense kicking myself any longer..... im in Hawaii now, its' time to party!!

Hidden Jabs

Isn't it funny how your life remains stable for some while and all of a sudden things change, or at least seem that they will but don't give you the opportunity to experience the change! If I could share a little bit of something that I have noticed everytime I'm about to go back home for 2 weeks. Every time i'm about to fly back to Hawaii for my 2 week or so break, I notice a large influx of activity and invitations to do things during times that I won't be here. It's like activity in my life may be dormant for a 1-2 month interval and then bam* everyone wants to hang out with you... but the problem is.... I'll be in Hawaii! Sorry!! Takes me back to that song... "isn't it ironic"- Alanis Morrissette . Anyways just wanted to share what I call as lifes "Hidden Jabs." Small punches to the gut that you don't know where it came from but you wish you saw it coming so you could at least prepare for it in a better matter.

So, I'm here eating my Kimbap (Korean sushi) that I picked up from the city last night for lunch. Problem is... its 10:30 AM! LoL! Anyways... just blogging away as another excuse to procrastinate til Dec. 20th when I go home. =D
